Let's talk acne and skincare for a moment. I'll bet you thought when you finished with your teens, it would be the end of your acne. It may have been for awhile, but then you're in your 30's and 40's, and next thing you know you're breaking out again around your chin line, near your nose or on your forehead. No fair, acne is for teenagers, right?

Sorry, the truth is, you're likely having hormonal breakouts. Many women break out right before their time of the month, and acne flairs all over again. Depending on where you're seeing your acne, you can sometimes pin point an issue. When it comes to acne and skincare, finding the root of the issue is key.

If you're seeing it along your jaw line or chin area, most likely it's hormones. Is it around your nose? It could be clogging, or excess sebum. Have you been working out and forgetting to wash your face afterwards? It's easy for skin to become clogged and "sticky" when we don't wash right away. Maybe you're breaking out around your hair line. That may be due to the hair styling products you're using.

Let's look at the hormonal breakouts, since that's what the majority of women with adult acne breakouts tend to see. As a skin care specialist, I learned to trust my fingers. I was trained to feel clogged skin, and so many women are clogged around their jaw line and chin area.

The first thing I'd like to tell you is to make sure when you're following your skin care routine, don't stop at the edges of your face! You need to include the sides, your jawline and your neck!

Did you just recognize yourself, only washing the front of your face? If you did, I've got good news for you, cleansing and exfoliating all the way around your jawline as well as your face is going to help alleviate some of your problems.

Take your fingers and run them along your skin and describe it's texture. Okay, now do it again and close your eyes this time. When we close our eyes, we then let our sense of touch become more sensitive. Do you feel that clogging at your jawline? Make sure you're including that area when you exfoliate and cleanse! If you can't feel it, that's okay, not everyone can pick up on those tiny details. It took me awhile when I first went to school to learn skin care.

It's time to get into more details about acne and skincare, are you ready?
